I'd really liked to have been around about 40 minutes after that baby came out of the oven, there's nothing on earth better than fresh, warm apple pie. Of course ever since I quit ciggys six months back every time I eat a piece of pie I gain three pounds. Boy howdy Ross, the thought of that pie has me salivating like one of Pavlov's dogs! RAY

Boy howdy, you ain't kidding! I put on 20 pounds the first month I quit and managed to lose five pounds back since then. My doc said he was so happy I quit smoking that he wouldn't start crabbing at me about the added 15 pounds for a year, all my numbers checked out OK. Right after I quit my gums started bleeding, my sinuses were wrecked, I didn't sleep worth a damm, and I went from 185 to 207 lbs. Now everything is back to normal, as my doc said it would be, except I can't seem to get under 198lbs for more than a day or two. Eleven years ago on my 50th B-day I weighed in at 243lbs, a year later I was 185lbs, so I DO know what I have to do. I just hate doing it, never been much for self-sacrifice. Oh hell, I sure would like a piece of that pie anyway! RAY

As for weight control I eat anything that I want but just not very much of it. I quit smoking about 35 years ago. My weight went up , topped out at about 170 I am at about 156 now.

Your pie looks like it's smiling and dribbling.
Very tasty looking.

Sometimes I get very creative with sculpting a face on the pies.

I just have to share this one.

Dried Apple Pies

I loathe, abhor, detest, despise,
Abominate dried-apple pies.
I like good bread, I like good meat,
Or anything that's fit to eat;
But of all poor grub beneath the skies,
The poorest is dried apple pies.
Give me the toothache, or sore eyes,
But don't give me dried apple pies.
The farmer takes his gnarliest fruit,
'Tis wormy, bitter, and hard, to boot;
He leaves the hulls to make us cough,
And don't take half the peeling off.
Then on a dirty cord 'tis strung,
And in a garret window hung,
And there it serves as roost for flies,
Until it's made up into pies.
Tread on my corns, or tell me lies,
But don't pass me dried-apple pies.

Ray, you know that the pie is perfectly fine food but not after a meal. It is the meal.

How many calories in a slice of pie?
Start with the list of ingredients.

one cup of poultry fat- 1600 calories
2 quarts of apples-800 calories
one cup of sugar-750 calories
one tablespoon of butter -110 calories
total calories- 5260
