Bargain Alert for British Columbia members!

Post by redzed » Wed Jan 03, 2018 19:39

Thrifty's has whole hind legs of pork (green ham) for sale at $1 per lb. In this day, especially with the high meat prices and the Canadian peso, it's a bargain. They are fresh, good quality and not in sealed cryovac bags. So much that can be done with them. You can do a smoked ham, culatello, schinkenspeck, or try a prosciutto. Boned out they make the best salami, and you get the hocks as a bonus. I will be picking up at least 5 tomorrow.

That's a great price.Wish we had them here. What would they weigh on average, about 20 pounds? I'll have to wait until my local hog farmer has one with a bad front leg so I can get a deal. I usually get a market hog for 100 or less.

I just noticed that we set anew record a couple of days ago when we had 145 people on our forum at the same time. Prior to that it was 100 and that went back to 2014. Even though we have days that it may appear that not much is happening, there is always a high number of folks looking through the forum and benefiting from the himalayas of information here.

Your 100% right, I have often thought, Geez, not much happening, but when I look over to who's on line watching, looking and learning, I have to admit I'm impressed.

I'm kinda new here, so I ask a lot of questions, sorry! But this place is great!

Funny little story, I enjoyed reading it, although, I thought the black pudding would play a much bigger role.
Much like it does in my life, every time my wife is not home or out with her girl friends.
I get to eat polish blood sausage (aka black pudding).
It saves the day every time for me, love that stuff, only hope they saved some of the black pudding and didn't have to throw it all away.
