What is interesting about Syracuse Casing is that they sell larger Diameter Sheep casings.
I know one has to be more careful stuffing Sheep casing (compared to Hog), but with a little care while stuffing one has a good tender sausage.

I`m interested in that IM200 knife sharpener at and it`s on sale too. Might just have to buy one for the wife for Christmas :mrgreen:

When I followed the link to Midwestern, I saw the electric slicer.

I was given one by a kind Lady at work (she and her husband are from Australia), it's the hand crank type, the slide and blade dis-assemble very easy for cleaning.
In return I traded her some frozen sausage packs, more of a gesture from my end as she did not want anything for the slicer.

And the slicer is brand new, it's been sitting in storage for some years with them. Slide moves with no side play and the slicer is constructed from Stainless Steel.

Bubba is happy :lol:

I have that same slicer advertised at Mid Western too, it works ok, but I think its objective is to slice bread, works ok with meat but not great.

I'm not sure how one is supposed to list one's favorites sources, describe them, provide links, and somehow manage to avoid promoting them, but these are all sources that I've either used with positive results or that I've recommended and received positive feedback on the recommendation.

Tom, these are great sources. It's fine to list them as you are indeed a member. We draw the line when they list themselves to promote their company commercially ("Spamming"). It is a completely different matter for one member to recommend a business to another member with good intention. Thanks Tom. Hope you are all ready for Christmas!

I found this web site and ordered their sharpening belts and polishing I bought the bench sander from Habor Freight. The same one they sell but I only paid $39.00 from Harbor Freight so I bought 2 of them. I leave one with the 800 grit belt and the other with the leather honing belt. You can shave after your done. I have never been real good at sharpening knifes untill now. I have tried LOTS of different sharpeners. Got everything for under $200.00

Recently found this spices site. Free shipping to USA locations for orders over $10.00. Used to be free for >$5.00, and before that, all free. So this deal may go away. More spices than you can imagine. Used them and was quite satisfied.

Hi Folks,
Just a note about moderating. Someone has to "trim" up and organize all the posts that are made. If one of your posts have been moved, don't be upset - try to understand where it went.

Sometimes we have differences. Everyone in society has differences. So... there has to be a place to go to cool off. This is that place... a "holding tank", while we ponder our posts.

Next, the forum "sausages" is by far, the largest and requires regular maintenance or the thing would get away from us and most members would become lost in it. In order to keep it organized and manageable, some time ago, I had to split the posts into two groups in that forum. The entries with original recipes (whether they contain photos or not) are posted individually in "sausages" as they have always been. The entries without original recipes that contain photos, now go into their own category in the "sticky" topics called "Sausage Photo Gallery".

So, if you're looking for a post (with photos) that you posted in 'sausages', and it doesn't contain an original recipe, chances are that it was moved to the top of the page in the sticky "Sausage Photo Gallery".

Also, many times a topic is "split" when a few comments direct the theme of that topic to yet another theme of conversation. We "split" the topic and give it a new name so any further posts may be found easily using the "search" function on our site. A note will appear on a "split" page, telling a reader where the new topic was directed. This certainly does not mean that the original topic can't be continued and members may add as many posts as desired pertaining to the original topic.

Finally, there must be a place to hold posts that just shouldn't go anywhere else - a place where a post should be reviewed at a later date before it goes into the "disclaimer container".

We normally don't delete posts unless they are duplicates (copies) or have broken the rules and the posting author has been notified that it has been removed. Of course, there may be exceptions to this policy and the decision remains with the moderators whether or not a post has been made in good taste. Overall, the continuity and integrity of the site has been remarkable and most members have heeded the rules very well. I believe we have a great site with wonderfully altruistic and helpful people as members. Thanks for doing your part!

I used to order just about everything from Cabelas and came to find a lot of their sausage supplies and smokers are provided to them by PS Seasonings. I since have made a few purchases from them, been very happy with what I've ordered, tho shipping seems to be a little pricy. Just about everything I purchase from Cabelas comes with free shipping, I'll most likely go back to that method of obtaining what I need.
