CHEAP WiFi chamber controller

Post by Sleebus » Tue May 02, 2017 14:09

Have any of you seen this?

Unbelievably low price. You can connect to it with your smart phone. I was looking for something to do remote monitoring of the chamber, since it's it's a ways off to the shed where the chamber is. Probably gonna put one of these on order and see how it goes.

At that price you have nothing to lose, buy it, test it, and give us a report! But it is a monitor, not a controller, so you would not be able to use it to turn your fridge or humidifier on or off.

Au Contraire'!
Sonoff TH10 is a Sonoff version smart switch that can monitor and set temperature and humidity through the APP eWeLink. Just as the name indicated, the new version Sonoff TH device supports two power supply specifications: 10A. It supports preset a temperature and humidity range, when the temperature and humidity of the environment fall into the range, it will automatically turn on or turn off connected devices.
It's worth a gamble, even if all I use it for is to remotely monitor...but for others starting out, what a deal!

You are right! I think I'll get one too just to have it for a spare.

Did you ever get one of these? I'm needing a controller for a fermentation chamber. If not, looks like I might have to be the guinea pig.

Sorry for not replying earlier. Just got back from a few days of camping and with no internet and cell phone coverage. I did not get the Sonoff unit because it just seemed a bit complicated and I know it would be time consuming to set up. I recently got a smart watch and have spent hours trying to understand how to program the different functions. I will be installing a dehumidifier in my chamber and I decided to buy an Inkbird plug and play humidity controller. Bought it on eBay and it came in two weeks by expedited post from China. Will be installing it next week.

Hello everyone, this is my firt post

I've been using Sonoff to monitor and control my chamber and works very well. With a TH10 or TH16, plus the corresponding temp / humidity sensor, you can track temp and humidity from wherever you are. It can also control up to one dispositive like a humidifier or the fridge itself.
If you need to control additional dispositives, you can purchase a Sonoff basic switch and create a "scene" through the app wich uses data (temp & humidity) from the TH10/TH16 .
IMHO this is a great alternative, because is cheap, flexible, good quality, and allows for remote monitor / control of your chamber.
I only miss the ability of keeping a record of lectures. By now this can't be done with Sonoff, so you will be able to check only actual temp / humidity.
The configuration is very simple, no prior knowledge required.

Welcome to the forum glaso! Thanks for that review. I was waiting for our friend Sleebus to test it for us, and am happy that you beat him to it. I am in the process of setting up a new chamber and will also order it. Not sure whether I actually need it, but a new toy is always fun. :D

I see you are in Santiago. How about telling us something about your sausage making in that part of the world?
All the best,

Hi Redzed:

I am just starting with this hobby, so learning and reading a lot. Charcuterie is becoming more and more wirdespread here in Chile, but we are still just starting. It is not so esy to gather all the supplies but the thing is growing fast.
Our nighbours in Argentina are far ahead from us in charcuterie due to the large italian inmigration at the beginning of XXth century.
