Cure Calculator

The cure calculator from Meats and Sausage web site, shows it does cure calculations for
CURE #1.

Can that calculation be considered the same for CURE #2?

Yes. Almost all brands of cure #2 contain the same % of nitrite (6.25%) as cure #1. The amount of nitrate may vary but its always well below the allowed amount.

That calculator is helpful. I'm getting ready to make that bacon I mentioned, and again thanks for that bacon cure formula.

Don't use cure #2 on Bacon. #1 only

Yah thanks Bob I knew that one, good lookin out! When I used it for the bacon cure, I was just wondering about the cure #2.

Cure #1 for smoking, I learned that from you all in here :mrgreen:
