...the entire popcorn crop in Indiana popped before it could be harvested, and was blown in drifts as far as Cleveland.

...which immediately declared bankruptcy. City fathers declared it the hottest summer on record since the last time the Cuyahoga River caught fire, back in 1969.

Well son it was so hot that the bay water got very hot on the surface and we had to fish our lures down at about a hundred feet. When we caught a fish by the time we got it into the boat it was perfectly poached.

Jan , Brisbane is at about the same latitude south as Cape Canaveral, Floria is north. So you probably get about three months when you can depend in it staying cool all day. Some of our member leave their very cold winters for more moderate winter in Georgia and Florida. They get to cold smoke all year.

Ross,
Matter of fact, I have quite a bit of cold smoking to do, at the moment the temp is around 23 degrees C, so not too bad. We also get a westery wind that freezes the gonads of a brass monkey here. Time for smoked biltong, smoked beef and sausages etc etc. No time to even mow my lawn. Charcuterie comes first.

It's so hot, any sausage I stuff with my 5 lbs Kitchener Stuffer comes out grilled at the outlet side of the stuffing tube.

Really it does; I pack the Stuffer with semi frozen ground meat, and at the other end of the stuffing tube it comes out cooked... grilled to perfection.

Tha'ss rat, Bubba. We were using my Kitchener grinder with the stuffer tube attachment to stuff frozen fireworks for the 4th, and the discharge end got so hot that a whole plate of stuffed casings went off. Fortunately, they were tied off in traditional 2-inch chorizos de Catalonia size, so they merely put the meat stomper into orbit.

The barrel of the Kitchener got propelled forward slightly, and is now called the Through-the-Back-Wall-er, or "Waller" for short. I guess I should follow the recipe closer and use wine when called for, instead of tequila.

Two young women were out walking in the country on a HOT summer`s day when they saw a beautiful lake close to the road.

`It`s SO hot! Let`s go for a swim in that lake to cool down!` suggested the first woman.

`But we haven`t got any swimming things to put on,` said the other, ` We can`t swim naked!`

`Oh, don`t worry about that!` reassured the first woman, ` There`s nobody here to see us.`

So they took off all their clothes and got into the lovely cool water for a swim. After a few minutes, though, they noticed a farmer walking towards the lake carrying a large bucket.

`Are you here to ask us to get out of the lake?` the first woman asked.

`I think he`s here to look at us!` said the second woman.

The old farmer frowned and held up the bucket for them to see. `No, ` he replied. `I`m just here to feed the alligator.'

As dry as it is, I'd hold out for a chance to stay where I was if I were you. ...which, I guess, makes you an "or."

Maybe in the fall we'll change the prize to "Most parched wins a parchment." ...better?
