Homemade Sausage Making

This year I`m giving the ink bird a shot this time around in the chamber since it reads the humidity display as the hum 1 doesn`t. Ink bird is a little cheaper at 35 bucks and the hum1 at 75- only think is you can`t put the hum 1 in a plastic bag filled with a wet napkin to heck the accuracy. What is everyone`s opinion. I have both.

I've got the inkbird. I found the humidity sensor isn't very accurate - i.e. it can be as much as 10% out compared to a trusted meter.

I've ended up with about a dozen different humidity sensors and meters. The more expensive ones tend to give the same result - but the cheap ones can be a bit random.

However the inkbird works fine if you just offset it by the error - e.g. if the trusted meter says 75% and the inkbird says 70% and you want to achieve 80% then set the inkbird to 5% lower than you actually want.

Just calibrate your hygrometer (analog or digital) using the salt method ( https://www.cheaphumidors.com/calibrate-hygrometer ) , put in in your chamber, compare the readings and use the offset as redall suggested.

Bob K, I read thoroughly but don`t understand. One has a meter on the end of a wire. One is a box with the reader inside. Fill my chamber with salt ? I`m confused. This is a cigar thread

Its a pretty straightforward set of instructions on how to calibrate a hygrometer . Whether you use it (hygrometer) in a humidor, wine cooler, or curing chamber is irrelevant.

Just compare the readings from your controller to the calibrated hygrometer ( if you have one) and make a the appropriate adjustments.

You put the separate hygrometer in your chamber and compare the results to your controller.

Bob K, bob google hum 1 and see if you can for that in a bag. Also you can`t calibrate it look up cap hum -1

Even though you cant calibrate it you know what the difference (offset) is. Cant help you any more that that
