Collagen Casings
Collagen Casings
I was just looking at some 16mm (5/8") Mahogany Collagen Casings for snack sticks.
I noticed that in the description, it says "Use only with stainless steel stuffing tubes.
What! ....... Why is that?

I'm sure your right, because they did say to use a 1/2" OD SS tube.
When I now think back many years ago when I tried collagen casings, I think I can now remembering having some trouble with some casing not fitting the tube.
Now I have to check on if I can get 1/2" SS tube for my 15lb stuffer from Northern Tool or my Dakota water stuffer, which I like when working alone.

I just had to order these for a similar reason. Not sure if the base is the right size?

Thanks Cajuneric, but the Dakota Water stuffer has a threaded end on there tubes, unlike all others, that is their down fall.
But if your doing sausage stuffing alone (1 person) this stuffer is great and I do love it.
Here is the shape of there tubes.

Eric-
You should measure the diameter of the base on your current tubes and order the same size, it's the only way to make sure they will fit. They make tubes for different stuffers and also to fit on grinders....so they vary. Unfortunately it will probably take a phone call to the retailer as few have that info listed.
The most common size for dedicated stuffers is 2" (50-51 mm)
